Experiential Education Courses

Offered Marine Sciences Department Fall/Spring  course meeting EE requirements:

  • MASC 395 Undergraduate Research in Marine Sciences can be taken with the permission of a faculty advisor.

Summer EE courses:

  • MASC 220 North Carolina Estuaries: Environmental Processes and Problems is taught at the main campus with one week at the UNC–Chapel Hill Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City, NC. Professor: Marc Alperin
  • MASC 472 Barrier Island Ecology and Geology is taught at the UNC–Chapel Hill Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City, NC and provides an experience in the field. Professor: Pete (Charles) PetersonPrerequisite: a course in ecology or geology or permission of the instructor. Course runs throughout the second summer session (generally early July to early August). Offered at the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) in Morehead City so as to maximize field site access to the iconic Outer Banks chain of barrier islands. Program fee $200 per student.
