Welcome to Marine Sciences at UNC-Chapel Hill

Welcome to the Marine Sciences Program of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Our Program shares the University's strong commitment to teaching, research and public service. We strive to quantitatively describe, understand and predict the processes that regulate marine systems and connect these to the other components of the Earth's System, to assess the significance of change in marine systems and its consequences for humans and other organisms. The Marine Sciences Program is comprised of two separate administrative units, the Department of Marine Sciences (MASC) in Chapel Hill and the Institute of Marine Sciences (IMS) in Morehead City.
