UNC-IMS Research Associate Professor Position Open

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a soft-money opening for a research associate professor to be staffed at its Institute of Marine Sciences in Morehead City.  We seek an individual with sufficient postdoctoral experience in research and publication to warrant appointment at this level.  The successful applicant must have demonstrated expertise and experience with meiofaunal ecology, animal-sediment relationships in high-energy ocean beaches and clastic environments, knowledge of functions of coastal marine and estuarine habitats, excellent scientific writing skills, motivation to seek research support, and interdisciplinary interests in coastal oceanography.  No institutional commitment exists to provide salary support for this position, although an initial 12 months of grant support is available.  Opportunity for some teaching exists.  Send by February 11, 2008 a letter of interest, an up-to-date CV, and contact information for 5 people willing to provide letters of recommendation to: Dr. Charles H. Peterson at cpeters@email.unc.edu.
