Greg Dusek Chosen to Attend Graduate Education Day 2011
Greg Dusek, a PhD student in the Department of Marine Sciences, was one of six UNC Chapel Hill graduate students to participate in the first ever Graduate Education Day at the North Carolina General Assembly in Raleigh on May 25th. Over 40 graduate students from both private and public institutions from across North Carolina participated in the event, which was held to display the contributions of graduate research to the state. Greg presented his dissertation research which provides the basis for a rip current forecast model that can be used on the coast of North Carolina and elsewhere. He also had the opportunity to discuss his research and its benefit to the North Carolina community with several state legislators including representatives Verla Insko of Orange County and Carolyn Justice of New Hanover and Pender Counties.
We are all very proud to have had Greg represent UNC’s Marine Sciences Program at Graduate Education Day on May 25, 2011!
